Sen. Thune’s office accepting spring internship applications
By From staff reports

October 21. 2009 6:00AM
U.S. Senator John Thune is currently seeking college students to serve as interns in his Washington, D.C. office as well as in his offices in Aberdeen, Rapid City and Sioux Falls.

Sen. Thune’s internship program allows students to gain valuable insight by learning how a Senate office operates. Interns in state offices will participate in constituent service and state outreach activities, as well as assist the state staff, while students in the Washington, D.C. office will have the opportunity to witness the legislative process, give Capitol tours, and attend Senate hearings. Both instate and Washington, D.C. internships will allow students to work closely with constituents, hone their research and writing skills, and learn a multitude of office skills.

Thune is a member of the Senate Committees on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; Armed Services; Commerce, Science, and Transportation; and Small Business.

South Dakota students interning in Thune’s Washington, D.C. office may qualify for a living expenses stipend. College students who are interested in interning in Sen. Thune’s Washington, D.C. office next spring should submit a resume and cover letter, by Nov. 1 to: Senator John Thune, Attn: Jen Fierro, Intern Coordinato, 493 Russell Senate Office Building, Washington, DC 20510, by fax (202) 228-5429 or by e-mail to jen_fierro@thune.senate.gov.

Students interested in interning in Thune’s Sioux Falls, Rapid City, or Aberdeen offices should submit a resume and a cover letter by Nov.15 to: Senator John Thune, Attn: Sara Konechne 320 N. Main Avenue, Ste. B, Sioux Falls, SD 57104 or by email to Sara_konechne@thune.senate.gov.
