Garretson students place at chess tourney

Several Garretson students competed in the 2009 South Central Service Cooperative Fall Chess Tournament on Nov. 14 in North Mankato, Minn.
Nathaniel Boland, Garretson Elementary, placed second in the Middle Division (grades 5-6) and TJ Boland, Garretson Middle School, placed second in the Upper Division (grades 7-12). Chance Anderson, homeschool, also participated in the Elementary Division (grades 3-4).
In addition to Garretson, students from Sibley, Iowa, and the Minnesota towns of Chaska, Jordan, Lake Crystal, Lonsdale, Mankato, Montgomery, Norwood Young America, New Prague, Northfield and St. Peter participated.
