Sports Hall of Fame tickets on sale

Tickets are on sale for the April 13 South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.

Dakota Sports in Sioux Falls is the sole distributor of tickets. Advance tickets are available by calling Dakota Sports at (605) 332-2131 or 1-800-888-2193. Tickets are $35 for adults and $20 for high school and younger. April 10 is the last day to get tickets in advance. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $40 and $25.

The banquet starts with a social at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 and the induction ceremony at 7.

Golfing great Kris Tschetter and Olympian Rod DeHaven were among the 11 people selected for induction into the South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame.

Also chosen were basketball coaches Gary Munsen, Don Meyer, Lyle “Dusty” LeBeaux and Curt Fredrickson. Other honorees are football-basketball-track coach Bob Schroeder, basketball player Harold Thune, softball pitcher LeRoy Carlson, referee Pal Christensen and football player/baseball coach James A. “Pev” Evans.
Tschtetter lives in Warrenton, Va.; DeHaven in Brookings; Munsen in Mitchell; Frederickson and Meyer in Aberdeen; LeBeaux in Porcupine; Schroeder in Sioux Falls; Thune in Murdo; Christensen in Yankton; and Evans in Rapid City. Carlson is being honored posthumously.

The Hall of Fame was established by the South Dakota Sportswriters Association in 1968. The 2013 class of inductees will boost membership to 236.
