Board On Geographic Names to meet in Flandreau

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Board on Geographic Names will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 1 p.m. CDT in the Wacouta Room of the Royal River Casino and Hotel, 607 S. Veterans Street, Flandreau.
The purpose of this meeting is to review proposed names for Squaw Creek in Moody County and solicit additional public comment.
The board will also review the public comments received and discuss holding additional public meetings about the use of the word “Negro” in the names of geographic features.

The public may attend the meeting to give public comment or send written comment to the board. Any written comments should be submitted no later than Aug. 26, 2013. A comment form is available upon request or available on the SDBGN website: http://www.sdbgn.sd.gov/.
