Although both teams registered nine shots on goal, it was Sioux Falls Lincoln (4-2-1) who had the right touch in the 3-0 loss Tuesday in Brandon.
“We played a pretty good game,” said Lynx head coach Marlon Mollett.
In the contest, Brandon Valley had their chances, but were unable to convert. “Lincoln has a very good goalkeeper and was good at long shots,” said assistant coach Michael Nitz.
Julie Teslow scored the first goal for Lincoln on an assist from Melanie Loe. The second goal for Lincoln was scored by Loe on an assist by Megan Landon. Lincoln’s third goal was scored by Kami Miller on an assist by McKayla Dysberg.
Maggie Smither was in goal for Lincoln with eight saves.
Abby Lusk and Haley Hoeke were in goal for Brandon Valley with two saves apiece.
Battling a variety of injuries, Mollett said the team has shown great improvement.
“Teams haven’t scored as many goals on us as they did last year,” he said.
The 1-6 Lady Lynx host Rapid City Stevens Friday at 8 p.m. and travel to Brookings Oct. 1 for their final game of the regular season.

Brandon Valley’s junior varsity team suffered another disappointing loss, this time a 6-0 setback by Lincoln.
“The silliness of homecoming week may have been a distraction,” said Nitz.
Lincoln scored all six goals in the opening half. Nitz said the Lady Lynx played well in second half, but were unable to come up with any goals.
Lincoln had 11 shots on goal compared to Brandon Valley’s nine.
