The Lynx junior tied with Washington’s Will Grevlos, O’Gorman’s Max Donohue and Lincoln’s Parker Klitzke, whose placings were decided with a scorecard playoff.
“Everything was felling really good, like it should,” Duncanson said of his 3-under opening round. “It’s a great honor to win a great tournament.”
Greg Koehn and Alex Hamer secured eighth and 11th places, respectively. Koehn finished the day with a 72 (38, 34) and Hamer had one stroke more, 73 (38, 35).
Tanner Fjerestad and Ryan Sjoberg fired respective rounds of 79 and 80 to claim 18th and 19th. Fjerestad shot 39 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine. Sjoberg carded a 42 and shaved four strokes off the last nine holes.
Zane Swenson’s 82 (41, 41) rounded out the scoring for the Lynx.
As a team, the Lynx placed in the middle of the five-team pack. O’Gorman’s 283 total won the team title, besting Brandon Valley by 10 strokes and Lincoln by four.
“We didn’t do too bad of a job as a team,” Duncanson said of the Lynx. “We know we can improve on that and we’ll try to play to the best of our ability at state.”
The team wrapped up their 2013 season Monday and Tuesday at the Class AA State Tournament, which was played on the Brandon Municipal Golf Course. See next week’s Challenger for the tournament results.
