The Lynx boys – and the understaffed Lady Lynx – bowling teams got their 2013-14 seasons off to a great start. Both the varsity I and II boy’s teams defeated Vermillion, while the girls, who didn’t have a full roster, posted some “really outstanding scores,” according to coach Paul Ward.

“We didn’t have enough girls to make a team this match (but we’re) hopeful to have all four girls there (this Friday) so we can be competitive.”

Richard Blue V led the Lynx boys with a 683, which was highlighted by games of 234 and 236, the best of all Brandon Valley bowlers that day. Mike Hillman and Darian Blue contributed series of 588 and 539, respectively. Hillman’s best effort of the day was a 236, while Darian Blue rolled a 204.

Also finishing with 500 series were Ricky Delacruz (524) and Luke Laycock (531). Delacruz’s first game, a 187, was his best. Laycock rolled a 212 in his third game of the day.

Other bowlers posting scores for the Lynx boys include Alex Gomez (184), Dustin Kemner (385), Tyler Limmer (464), Izak Moschell (330), Ethan Schreurs (335), Thomas Siemonsma (397) and Mitchell Spainhower (369).

Senior Emily Steinhouse led the Lady Lynx with a 568 series. The 189-average bowler rolled 173, 177 and finished with a 218 game.

Lauren Blue’s 182 was her highest game, leading her to a 504 series.
The Washington Warriors were a force to overcome Friday, as the Lynx boys won three out of eight matches, while the Lady Lynx garnered just one match win out of eight.

Despite the match setbacks, Brandon Valley’s varsity I boy’s team registered a total of 1,841 pins to win the total pin points by over 100 points.

As for the Lady Lynx, Coach Ward says, “They’re having a great time establishing their averages.”

The Lady Lynx were led by Steinhouse, who rolled a 562 series that was fueled by a 204 game. Lauren Blue finished with a 488 series that was highlighted by a pair of 168 games. Kelsey Nimick and Victoria Braley contributed rounds of 331 and 234, respectively.

Richard Blue V took charge of the lanes for the Lynx boys. His best game of the day was a 222. Mike Hillman also finished with a 617 series, which was aided by a 216 game. Ricky Delacruz contributed a 587 series and Darian Blue, whose best game was a 187, finished with a 501 series. Luke Laycock produced a 471 series.

The Lynx bowling teams are in action next on Friday, Dec. 6, when they host Yankton at Empire Bowl. Bowling begins at 4 p.m.
