Minnehaha County won’t used voting centers

Minnehaha County Auditor Bob Litz had anticipated South Dakota’s largest county would join about a half-dozen others expected to switch to electronic procedures from paper poll books and precinct voting to electronic poll books and voting centers next year.
But after county commissioners last Tuesday had a lengthy list of questions for Litz and expressed some reservations during a briefing he gave them on e-pool books, Litz had decided to forgo the switch in election protocol next year.
He noted the city of Sioux Falls and the Sioux Falls School District plan to proceed with e-poll book voting in their own elections next year. Experiences learned there might well assuage commissioners’ concerns.
“We are going to learn a lot from those,” said Litz, who expects to renew his push to adopt the new technology after 2014.
