Edith Fritz, 92
Memorial services for Edith Fritz, 92, of Sioux Falls, were held Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
Mrs. Fritz died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Sandford/USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
Edith Dalores Fritz was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Chancellor, S.D., to Elsie and Nicholas Lauer. She was married to Donald Fritz in Luverne, Minn., on March 8, 1946.
Survivors include one son, Don (Debbie) Fritz; two granddaughters, Libby Fritz of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Callie Schock (Jered); great-grandsons, Cameron, Gabriel, and Oliver, all of Sioux Falls; a sister, Elaine Church; two brothers, Fred Lauer and Jack Lauer; and special friends, Cheri Jellema and Alice Sampson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her sister, Betty Gallagher.

Beverly A Wassenaar, 69
Funeral services for Beverly Ann Wassenaar, 69 of Hills, Minn., were held Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at the Reformed Church of Steen in Steen, Minn. Burial was in the Eastside Cemetery near Steen.
Bev Wassenaar died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at Sanford Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls.
Beverly Ann Wassenaar was born June 15, 1944 at Hills, Minn., to William and Grace (Bosch) Wassenaar. She grew up in Hills and graduated from Hills High School in 1962. After her education she began working at Farm Service Agency in Luverne, Minn., until 1999. She then worked at Vision Care Associates in Sioux Falls until her health began to fail.
She was a member of the Reformed Church of Steen, where she was a member of the ladies circle and was a sponsor for the RCYF. She enjoyed bowling and taking stats for the Hills-Beaver Creek basketball and volleyball teams. She was an avid sports enthusiast. In 1971, Beverly’s only child, Jill was born. She attended all her grandchildren’s activities.
She is survived by her mother, Grace Wassenaar of Hills, Minn.; a daughter, Jill (James) Reindl of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren, Braydon, Keaton, Trey, Chance and Kennedy Reindl, all of Sioux Falls; one brother, Gerrit (Bev) Wassenaar of Slayton, Minn.; four sisters, Gladys (Jake) Schelhaas of Jasper, Minn., twin sister Betty (Jerry) Ackerman of Hills, Minn., Bonnie (Dave) Shelton of Luverne, Minn., and Nelva (husband, Ron) Behr of Hills; and several other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Wassenaar.

Myrtle Sorensen, 96
Myrtle G. Sorensen, 96, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Madison, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society, Sioux Falls.
Myrtle Geneva Moe was born Aug. 14, 1917, at Arlington, S.D., to Herman and Lena (Evenson) Moe. She attended rural school at Arlington and then married Emanuel N. "Ben" Sorensen on March 9, 1941, at Grand Island, Neb. They lived in Madison, where she was a homemaker. Myrtle was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered at Bethel Lutheran Home. Myrtle liked quilting, gardening, crafts and baking pies.
She is survived by her husband, Ben, of Sioux Falls; three daughters, Janet (Joe) Barron of Brandon, Bette (Allen) Nelson of Volga and Linda (Jim) Appelwick of Yankton; 10 grandchildren; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren three brothers, Ray (Juanita) Moe of Sinai, Floyd (Doris Moe of Seattle, Wash., and Neil (Judy) Moe of Vermillion; one sister, Betty Eriksrud of Sioux Falls, sister-in-law, Joan Rice of Florence, Ariz.; and a brother-in-law, Harvey Pickering of Arlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Pearl Anderson and Olga Pickering; five brothers, an infant Leon, Gilbert, Alvin and Glenn Moe; and a son, David Sorensen.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, with burial at Graceland Cemetery.
