AAA offering ‘Tipsy Tow’ for long St. Patrick’s Day weekend

Don’t rely on the luck of the Irish to get home safely after St. Patrick’s Day partying.
“According to 2011 data provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 34 percent of all traffic fatalities on St. Patrick’s Day that year involved alcohol,” said Marilyn Buskohl, spokesman for AAA South Dakota. “There are just too many alternatives to rolling the dice and climbing behind the wheel after drinking – call a cab, use a designated driver or call AAA for a free Tipsy Tow.”
If you feel uneasy about driving after drinking, AAA South Dakota will come get you and your vehicle and make sure both get home safely.
“St. Patrick’s Day is on a Monday this year so people may be inclined to celebrate throughout the holiday weekend,” said Buskohl. “They need to have a transportation plan in mind before taking that first drink.”
AAA’s popular Tipsy Tow service is offered for St. Patty’s, running from 6 p.m. Sunday, March 16 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Mitchell and Yankton.
To access AAA’s Tipsy Tow service, call 1-800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) and ask for Tipsy Tow. The service is offered, no questions asked, to both AAA members and non-members alike. AAA will give you, up to one more person, and your car a free ride home, within a 15-mile radius from the point of pick-up, anytime during the 34-hour period.
