New counselor hired at BVHS

Principal Gregg Talcott of Brandon Valley High School has announced that Katie Hartz has been hired to replace Amy Lupkes as a counselor with Brandon Valley School District. Lupkes has returned to her home district of West Central.
Hartz has been a counselor for the past three years at Hamlin County High School.
She attended school for many years in the Middle East, where her parents were teachers in American Schools. They moved back to the United States after 9/11 and Hartz completed her high school at Hamlin County. She received her undergraduate degree from South Dakota State University and her master’s degree in counseling from Minnesota State-Mankato, where she did a year of internships in schools throughout the Twin Cities. Upon graduation, she returned home to become a counselor at Hamlin County.
