August 12. 2014 12:41PM
An outdoor farmerís market is being piloted in Brandon, and local businessman Doug Metcalf is spearheading the endeavor.
ďI know nothing about it other than thereís not one in town,Ē Metcalf said.
The first farmerís market will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in the Cedar Place (west building) parking lot, 1320 E. Cedar St. Metcalf said the Aug. 16 farmerís market will be free for all vendors who set up that day. He said a vendor fee would be charged in the following weeks.
Only handmade items made by the vendor selling them or homegrown produce grown by the person selling them may be sold, Metcalf said.
ďNo commercial items or products that would not normally fall under the general understanding of the farmerís market conceptĒ may be sold, Metcalf said.
Vendors will need to provide their own table and/or tents.
