Thousands expected first annual Electric Glow Run
By Staff reports

August 15. 2014 9:16AM
The Electric Glow Run will host their inaugural fun run and walk this Saturday evening (Aug. 16) at Yankton Trails Park. The event will feature a night time 5K run that will wind through the park after dark, a free concert open to the public, and food and beverage vendors. A portion of all proceeds will go to benefit Make-A-Wish South Dakota.

“What’s unique about our 5K run and walk is that the course itself will feature live DJs, fire performances, dancers, glow inflatables, lasers, black lights, CO2 cannons, and other fun surprises throughout the entire route. We are so excited to give our participants a unique and thrilling experience unlike any other fun run in the region,” says partner Jeff Meuzelaar.

The run already has over 1,000 registered runners and that number is expected to double in the next 72 hours. “We expect over 3,000 people to attend our event this year between run participants and general concert goers,” says founder TJ Doohen. “The majority of fun run registrations typically occur the week of the event and we’re already seeing additional registrations roll in every hour.”

The main stage concert will feature popular mashup artists, The Later Babes, renowned producer Unlimited Gravity, and a variety of local DJ talent. “The main stage entertainment line up is designed to offer Sioux Falls a glimpse into the music scene not commonly heard within the South Dakota borders,” says partner Greg Doohen. “The music will be familiar to the masses, but with a high energy electronic and mashup twist that all ages can enjoy and appreciate.”

The Electric Glow Run is an all ages event and open to the public from 5 to 11 p.m.. A beer garden will be available for those ages 21 and older. Runners and walkers can register online at for $50.

The event is sponsored by Sioux Falls Sleep Center, Wiley’s Tavern, Billion Fiat, Dfine Private Fitness Club, Village Hair & Spa, Runner’s Block, South Dakota Air National Guard, and the United States Navy.
