Bethany Home-Brandon will unveil a new resident art exhibit at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26 in the Bethany Art Gallery.
The title of the exhibit is “Porch Flowers and Country Chickens.” The exhibit features paintings done by residents of Bethany Home-Brandon and Bethany Meadows. The artists featured in the exhibit are Leonie Hanson, Scotty Nincehelser, Elsie Urban, Elvena Hyronimus, Arnold Betlaf, Janet Wilbur, Bonnie Stanley and Flora Zweep.
Art teacher Mary Lee leads regular art classes at Bethany Home-Brandon. The paintings in this exhibit were done by residents earlier this year under her tutelage.
“Our art program has become a model for the nursing home industry,” said Bethany Home Brandon administrator Jane Gullickson. “We give our residents the opportunity to use their creative abilities and they come up with some wonderful artwork that then in turn beautifies our facility,” Gullickson said.
According to Bethany Development Director Trevor Guthmiller, the exhibit opening will feature an opportunity to meet the artists as well as some great appetizers, beverages and a short gallery talk. The “Porch Flowers and Country Chickens” exhibit will be available for viewing from through Oct. 20.
The Bethany art gallery was established in 2013 and resides in the area that links Bethany Meadows and Bethany Home-Brandon. Previous exhibits have featured nature photography by Bethany staff, paintings by Bethany Home and Bethany Meadows residents, as well as drawings by the grandson of a Bethany resident.
