August 22. 2014 10:08AM
The El Riad Shrine will host the Midwest Shrine Association in Sioux Falls this week (Aug. 20-23). Fourteen Shrine Temples from Canada and the Midwest will be in Sioux Falls competing and parading. This event happens once every 14 years and approximately 2,000 Shriners, their wives and families are expected to visit.

The visiting Shriners will be parading in Tea at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 and in Brandon at 10 a.m. this Saturday. The parades will feature hundreds of Shrine units with horses, motorcycles, sprint cars, clowns, menís choruses, classic and classy autos, and more. The community is encouraged to take in Saturdayís parade.

The parade route in Brandon starts in the Brandon Valley High School parking lot and proceeds west on Holly Boulevard and then heads south on first Avenue, ending at Elm Street near Brandon Elementary.

Shrinersí parades not only help raise awareness for Shriners Hospitals for Children but are fun and entertaining.

Details of the event, parades and competitions are available online at www.elriad.org.
