The Brandon Tennis Association was honored Sunday, July 25, at the 2010 South Dakota Tennis Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where the local Association was presented the 2010 South Dakota Tennis Achievement Award.
The BTA was presented the award for making huge strides in its programming and tennis court upgrades in recent years.
The BTA, which formed in January of 2006, has worked to bring the game of tennis to the forefront in Brandon. Since their start, the BTA led the effort to add four courts and concession/restrooms/storage facility to the town’s tennis complex located on the Brandon Valley Middle School campus. The Association also organized youth tennis camps, youth and adult lessons, a USTA Junior Team Tennis program, and programming for adults.
For its community tennis efforts, the BTA was named the Northern Section’s 2007 Organization of the Year. The BTA was also named the USTA National Community Tennis Association for 2008.
