Tyler Anderson carded a 79 to lead Brandon Valley to a fifth place team finish out of a field of 17 teams at the Huron Invite last Friday.
Anderson carded a 41 on Broadland Creek National Golf Course’s front nine and followed with a 38 for the 79 total. Teammates Tyson Thorson and Trevor Tobin turned in consistent rounds of 81 and 84, respectively. Thorson opened with a 42 and finished with a 39, while Tobin shot rounds of 43 and 41.
“It was unbelievably windy today, which made the scores really hard,” said Lynx head coach Scott Carroll. Despite the wind, Friday’s invite may help the Lynx prepare for later this season. “This was a great tournament for the kids to learn from, not only is the state tournament here but the weather could be similar to what it was today in October,” Carroll said.
Michael Whitney (52, 46) and Nate Peterson (49, 49) tied for 76th place, while Tanner Wehrkamp finished with a 106.
“We are right there with other teams and can hopefully continue to get better and possibly knock off one of those top teams in the state,” Carroll said.
Watertown won the 17-team event, firing a 317, and nipping O’Gorman by one stroke.
The are on break until Sept. 7 when they face Harrisburg and Madison in a triangular at Bakker Crossing.
