Brandon Valley’s boy’s soccer team has posted a 2-2 record, scoring wins against Rapid City Central and Pierre in a non-power point game. Brandon Valley dropped 2-0 losses to both Rapid City Stevens and Aberdeen Central.

Garrett Reta scored both goals in Brandon Valley’s 2-0 win at Rapid City Central on Aug. 20. Reta hit pay dirt on a penalty kick and one in regulation play, said head coach Mark Chase.
And while Reta scored both Lynx goals, Chase said Andrew Waterfall was the “player of the match.”
“He made a couple of tremendous saves,” Chase said of the Lynx goalie.
BV 0, R.C. Stevens
Rapid City Stevens used a penalty kick midway through the first half and a second-half goal to defeat the visiting Lynx 2-0 on Aug. 21.
“This was a well-played match, and we had our chances,” Chase said. “We just could not finish and score,” despite having control of the ball about 60 percent of the match.
BV 6, Pierre 2
Brandon Valley’s offensive attack came to life against Pierre in a non-power point (friendly) game, Chase said.
“It looked like Pierre was going to out-play us, but after the first 20 minutes we got our legs under us,” Chase said.
Six different players scored a goal for the Lynx, including freshman Jordan Henderson, Kenny Mattson, Michael Bader, Alex Rogen, Philip Volk and Aden Letcher.
“The team played extremely well,” Chase said.
The Lynx had 18 shots on-goal to Pierre’s 14.
BV 0, Aberdeen Central 2
Hoping to redeem last year’s 7-3 loss to the Golden Eagles, the Lynx got down 1-0 early in the contest as Aberdeen Central took advantage of having the wind at their backs in the first half. The Golden Eagles added a second goal early in the second half as the result of a penalty kick.
“Actually, we out-played them, but that’s just how soccer goes,” Chase said. “We had some tremendous opportunities that just wouldn’t go. What we’ve discovered in AA soccer in South Dakota is any team can win on any given night.”
The Lynx will play three games over the next five days, beginning with a road game at Yankton on Thursday and a home game with Sioux Falls O’Gorman Friday. Both of those matches start at 6 p.m. On Labor Day, Brandon Valley travels to face Sioux Falls Lincoln at Yankton Trail Park at 8 p.m.
“We just have to bring our best game to each one,” Chase said.
