The National Parkinson Foundation estimates that one in 100 people over the age of 60 and two in 100 over age 70 are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Approximately one million American’s are currently living with the disease, with 50,000 new patients diagnosed each year. The number is expected to rise significantly as the current population ages. Although most people think of Parkinson’s as a condition only affecting older people, approximately 15 percent of diagnosed individuals are under the age of 50.
