Gardening with the Masters: Flower gardening 101 seminar

This program is a series of three workshops that focus on training new or somewhat experienced gardeners how to enjoy and be successful at flower gardening. The seminar is for individuals and/or families (children age 10 and up with an adult) and will walk through the planning, planting and care of blooming plants.
The first session is Thursday, Sept. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. The seminar will include topics on site selection, soil, planning your garden, spring flowering plants and shade gardening. Session two is scheduled for Oct. 14, also from 6 to 8 p.m. and will present information on planting, maintenance, propagation, spring flowering bulbs, native plants and ornamental grasses. The final session will be held Nov. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. Information will include insects and disease, garden weeds, summer flowering perennials, roses, garden clean-up and seed saving.
The program is provided by the Minnehaha Master Gardeners in association with the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service. The course will be held at the Outdoor Campus, 4500 S.
