Creighton Fraker, a 2001 Brandon Valley High School graduate, is headed for Hollywood!
The 28-year-old Brandon native was featured Thursday on the popular television show, “American Idol.” Fraker wowed the celebrity judges – Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson – with an original song he wrote during a 9-hour bus ride from Queens, N.Y. to Pittsburgh, Pa., the second city in the show auditions. The “Idol” judges also requested Fraker to sing portions of a couple more songs.
“I’m going to sing – I had a bunch of options, and I couldn’t decide, so I just wrote a song on the way here,” Fraker told the judges.
“That was genius. That was great,” Tyler said after the original song performance.
“You have a weird crazy kind of voice but I love it,” Jackson told Fraker.
Adds Tyler, "You are sweetly insane, man.”
All three judges gave Fraker a definite yes to the next round, the grueling week of Hollywood auditions.
“One million percent yes,” Jackson said.
“Two million percent yes,” added Lopez.
“Three gazillion percent yes,” said Tyler.
Fraker, who moved to New York in 2004 to pursue an acting career, listed his background for the show as “starving artist.” He also was featured in a background piece on the show.

Fraker is the son of Terry and Georgia Fraker of Brandon. He was in Sioux Falls in April 2008 to perform at the Washington Pavilion as one of five cast members for Nickelodeon TV’s “The Backyardigans.”
Back then he played Austin – a kangaroo, probably the most “different” character he's played in his theater career, he said.
Fraker has performed nearly all his life. He started singing publicly when he was 2 and started ballet classes when he was 4. He was in Singing Boys of Sioux Falls for nine years. He sang in choir through high school and was in high school theater.
After moving to New York in 2004 he soon became involved in the Friends in Theater Company. Founded in 1996, the company does one-of-a-kind shows for charitable causes.
