More than 100 youth basketball teams will be in Brandon this week to compete in the fifth annual Brandon Valley Hardwood Challenge Basketball Tournament. The tournament opens Friday night and runs through Saturday.
Boys and girls teams in grades 3-8 will play a total of 177 games, which will be played in gyms in the Brandon Valley High and Middle Schools, and Robert Bennis and Fred Assam Elementary schools.
Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit the senior activities of the classes of 2016 and 2017 (the current 8th and 9th grade classes). Funds raised from this basketball tournament, which will be set aside in CDs, help to reduce the money that parents and students need for after-prom and graduation activities.
