Thanks for reading the Challenger this year
December 26. 2012 3:29PM
I donít say it often enough to the many faithful subscribers and to those of you who, like clockwork, make a point to purchase the Brandon Valley Challenger every week at one of our local convenience stores, Sunshine Foods or even right here at the Challenger office.
So, here it is: Thank you. Thanks for reading your hometown newspaper this past year.
And I know youíve been reading it. I hear about it. I hear when Iíve screwed up. And I hear when you believe Iíve done a good job. I prefer the latter but accept both praise and criticism. That combination is what helps to make the Challenger and myself a little bit better every week.
Itís my continuing goal to cover the news thatís important to you, and thatís about the happenings and the people that make the world go Ďround in the communities of Brandon, Valley Springs, Corson, Rowena and the surrounding area.
Iíd be amiss if I didnít offer a thank you to the folks whoíve been helpful in supplying facts and comments for the stories I write. And I canít forget to thank those whoíve let me take a peek into their personal lives by answering inquisitive questions and allowing me to capture their lives in photographs.
Iíve had a ball writing stories on your hobbies, your achievements and the things that simply make people happy. I hope your heart has been warmed by the touching stories Iíve have the privilege to write. And Iíve felt your compassion in the unfortunate stories of heartache and tragedy Iíve written this year. Itís certainly not easy to be in the local spotlight, but I thank you for your willingness to do so.
I would also be amiss if I didnít thank you for logging on to brandoninfo.com. Weíve been online over five years now, and the numbers tell us youíre still looking to our website for daily updates, news reports, viewing our photo galleries, sharing your thoughts on our blog topics and casting votes on our online polls.
In just five days, 2013 will be upon us. I hope youíll continue to be a part of the Brandon Valley Challenger family throughout 2013 and in the years to come. As always, I welcome Ė and greatly appreciate Ė your news tips, story ideas, photo submissions and comments.
And because I donít say it often enough: Thank you. Thanks for reading the Brandon Valley Challenger and logging on to brandoninfo.com.
May you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
