Two Lady Lynx seniors – Allison Koehn and Val Peltier – combined for 26 points in Brandon Valley’s 45-33 Eastern South Dakota Conference victory against the Huron Tigers Saturday in Brandon.

Brandon Valley out-scored their guests in both the first and second quarters, putting up 10 points in each period to post a 10-9 lead after a quarter of play and a 20-14 advantage at the half.

Although the Lynx controlled the game from start to finish, the Tigers made an 11-point run in the third quarter to get within two – 27-25 – at the end of the third, while the Lynx put up seven counters.

Brandon Valley iced the league victory in the fourth quarter by outscoring Huron 18-8.

“We finished this game strong, and our seniors really led the way for us. They showed great leadership and that is what we need from them,” said Lynx head coach Mark Stadem. “I thought the girls really responded well in this one.

Koehn and Peltier netted 14 and 12 points, respectively, for the Lady Lynx. Senior Jordyn Griffith tossed in nine points.

Although the underclassmen on the Lady Lynx roster didn’t net double digits, Stadem said their contributions are equally important.

“Our younger kids just keep getting more comfortable playing at the varsity level and that is huge,” Stadem said. “We need to keep working hard and growing as a team.”

The Lynx converted 18 of 50 shots from the floor, a 36 percent effort and were 7 for 10 at the charity stripe.

For Huron, Taylar Rotert had 10 points.

Koehn had six of the Lady Lynx’s 25 rebounds. Kara Schroeder and Carley Kueter both clamped on to four rebounds, while Merry and Peltier each had three.

Peltier was also responsible for four of the team’s 11 steals. Koehn had three and Merry had a pair.

Brandon Valley (4-7) hosts Rapid City Central on at 6:30 p.m. Friday, and Rapid City Stevens pays a visit to Lynx gym for a 1:30 p.m. game.

“This was our fifth game in nine days, and it has been a difficult stretch for the team,” Stadem said.
