Council hires golf course consultant

An independent consultant who specializes in golf course operations has been hired to assess operations of the Brandon Municipal Golf Course.
At their Jan. 7 meeting, the council approved a contract with AS Enterprises, a consulting service owned by Mark Amundson. Beginning in February, the city will pay AS Enterprises $1,500 per month, not to exceed 21 months (October 2014). If the city chooses to terminate the contract before the 21-month contract is complete, they must provide a 30-day notice to the agency.
The consulting fees will be paid for from the golf course budget, the council decided.
I think this is a good thing to do, said Alderwoman Barb Fish. I hate to spend the money but long-term its a good thing to do.
In his written proposal, Amundson said, it is a healthy exercise to have an independent assessment of all aspects of a golf course operation from time to time.
In the end, AS Enterprises will provide detailed reports on all aspects of operations and recommendations to the council on personnel, policies and procedures, course operations, fee structure, maintenance and clubhouse operations. He will also provide recommendations for future planning/renovations, and typical costs associated with various projects.
