Bike Swap to help fund local trail system repairs
Local mountain bike group Falls Area Single Track (FAST), will host The Sioux Falls Bike Swap from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14 at the Holiday Inn City Centre. 100 W. 8th St. Admission is $5. Bike corrals are $10 and includes admission; additional bikes are $5.
All fees and admissions raised from the swap will help fund the work of FAST including maintenance and repairs on the single track trail system at Leaders Park in Northeast Sioux Falls. Vandals have destroyed all of the railings on the intermediate loop bridge and removed part of the railings on the bridge on the advanced loop; both need to be replaced.
FAST organized the Sioux Falls Bike Swap to help fund initial trail development at Leaders Park. Monies raised this year will help the group continue their efforts. Local bike shops Spoke N Sport and Two Wheeler Dealer have already committed to have tables at the swap.
“Maintenance is a normal part of any sustainable trail system like Sioux Falls has at Leaders Park, but the unfortunate destruction of two bridges has left our group with a bigger need of funds this year,” said Kyle Andersen, FAST President. “Safety is a top concern for our group and we want to make sure the bridges are repaired to spec in time for riding season.”
Falls Area Single Track mission is to protect, create, and enhance quality trail experiences for mountain bikers in cooperation with other trail users in the Sioux Falls area. In addition, we actively promote responsible trail use, support volunteer trail work, and assist land managers with trail management issues.
