Five people were injured Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash on S.D. Highway 11 (Splitrock Boulevard) south of Huset’s Speedway and before Madison Street.

A blue Ford Expedition was northbound on Splitrock boulevard when it collided with a southbound Chevy Cobalt, State Patrol trooper Angel Duran-Garcia said.

The accident was reported at 6:45 p.m.

Duran-Garcia said the Expedition had two adult passengers with the driver. Two children in the Colbalt were in carseats.

All five people were taken to a nearby hospital, the extent of their injuries was unknown, Duran-Garcia said.

“We don’t have much to go by other than the marks on the road,” he said.

Duran-Garcia said it took about 15 minutes to extricate people from the Cobalt.

A helicopter was dispatched. The accident closed Splitrock Boulevard past Huset’s as emergency responders worked at the scene.
