Brandon Valley padded their win-loss record with a pair of victories posted Saturday at the team’s season home opener against the Sioux Falls Diamonds. The Lady Lynx did just enough offensively to pull off 7-4 and 5-4 wins.

It took three innings at-bat before the Lynx offense came to life in the first of two games Saturday. Brandon Valley posted six runs in the bottom of the fourth behind the firepower of Jaysa Widmann and Miranda Cain, who each went 2-for-3 at the plate collecting three RBI.
Senior Kara Anderson and junior Brooke Becker split the win on the mound.

Junior Hannah McIlravy preserved the 5-4 victory in the follow-up game by turning a double play in the bottom of the fourth.
The Diamonds, positioned with runners on first and second and just one out, were shut down when McIlravy scooped up a line down the third baseline to turn the double and get the Lady Lynx out of the inning.
Lady Lynx head coach Suzanne Carroll said sophomore Katie Erickson played well both offensively and defensively. Erickson went 2-for-2 at bat with an RBI and made some tough plays in the infield to keep the SF Diamonds from scoring.
“Defensively, the girls are playing really well, helping our pitchers,” Carroll said. “It’s early in the season with not so ideal weather conditions so we have had to step it up and help the pitching crew out.”
The Lady Lynx, now 4-1 on the year, are scheduled for a road game at Pipestone, Minn., Thursday, and will host Flash 16U at 6 p.m. Monday at Aspen Park. Both are doubleheaders. The Pipestone games will get underway at 4:30. The Lady Lynx junior varsity team will host Diamonds X-treme at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 16.
