Luverne Truck Equipment is celebrating the opening of its newly remodeled corporate headquarters this Friday, which will be followed by its 50th anniversary party. The guest list includes state and local business and political leaders as well as customers and current and prior employees of the company.
John Schulzetenberg, Luverne’s president and CEO, said, “Our success over the past 50 years can be credited to our dedicated employees, our over 5,000 loyal customers and our close working relationship with the city of Brandon and county and state economic development authorities. We have asked them all to help in our celebration.”
From its humble beginning in Luverne, Minn., in 1963, Luverne Truck Equipment became the first business in the Brandon Industrial Park in 1985 when it moved to its eight-acre campus, where it employs almost 200 people and currently occupies over 216,000 square feet of office, manufacturing and warehousing space.
Dennis Olson, assistant city administrator, said Luverne Truck Equipment was actually the “cornerstone” of the Brandon Industrial Park.
“The way I hear it … and I’ve heard it often enough to believe it’s true,” Olson said, “is that the old development foundation was not really operational. When they inquired to come over here, I would say that was the birth of what we now know as the Brandon Development Foundation.”
Luverne Truck Equipment is a nationally known and respected leader in the manufacture of high quality accessories for pickups and SUVs. The company boasts that nearly all of its products are manufactured in Brandon, unlike most of its competitors whose products are made outside the United States. Luverne’s primary product line includes grille guards, nerf bars, various types of side entry steps, bed rails, splashguards and other similar products.
Luverne’s RETRAC Mirror division manufactures exterior mounted mirrors and front-end protection for truck OEMs and the aftermarket, for light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, fire trucks and other specialized vehicles, including the military.
The company’s APM Automotive division manufactures ram air hoods, made of blow molded plastic and fiberglass, for automobiles and pickups.
Schulzetenberg adds, “As we continue to expand our sales across the United States and to other countries, we wanted to have a 50th anniversary party to thank our employees, customers and other friends in the community, who have helped build our company over the years.”
