Golfers post best team finish, score of season

The Lady Lynx rebounded from a tough day on the links the day before at Yankton to finish third in the seven-team Watertown Invitational played Tuesday at Cattail Golf Course.
“The girls performed very well today,” said Lynx head coach Todd Geerdes. The young Lady Lynx team accomplished a career team best third place team finish along with a career team best score of 369.
“It showed the mental toughness of all the players who were able to put yesterday's team performance behind them and post some very good scores today,” Geerdes said.
Brandon Valley was led by Kaila Kuehn, who finished in 10th place with an 87 and Janae Paul, who landed in 12th place with her score of 89.
“Kaila continues to get better and better, again posting her lowest tournament score of her career, Geerdes said. “Janae rebounded today and shot the second best score of her career.”
Alana Christianson and Hannah Johnson rounded out the scoring for the Lynx by shooting scores of 96 and 97, respectively.
“I was extremely proud of the ladies' performance today and it appears that we are peaking at the right time. Hopefully we can build on this leading into the state tournament in two weeks,” Geerdes said.
Brandon Valley closes out their regular season schedule on their home course, the Brandon Municipal, with the Lynx Invite on Thursday, May16. Tee off is scheduled for noon The state tournament will be played in Yankton May 20-21.
