Eight hits weren’t enough for the Brandon Valley Lynx (16-7) Tuesday, as it lost a 13-10 shootout in seven innings to Sioux Falls Lincoln (4-7) at Harmodon Park.
The Lynx found themselves in a 6-1 deficit after two innings of play before they battled back and put up six runs in the third to make it a 9-7 game, Lincoln’s favor.
Brandon Valley held the Patriots scoreless until the bottom of the seventh when Lincoln’s Bobby Grady connected for a grand slam and the 13-10 victory.
“We fell behind, fought back and then he (Grady) took care of it,” said Lynx head coach Grant Hieb.
Jacob Adams put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Lynx. He tripled in the first inning and doubled in the fourth. Lucas Lunstra contributed two doubles and two RBI to the contest.
Brody Kunzmann recorded the win for Lincoln. He pitched one shutout inning, struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.
Sioux Falls Lincoln was sparked by Grady and Dayton Braley, who teamed up for six hits and five RBIs.
