Lynx split wins with Washington

Strong pitching by Lynx senior Jacob Bruget, who registered a dozen strikeouts against Sioux Falls Washington Monday at Legion Park in Valley Springs, was enough to lift Brandon Valley to a 1-0 victory.
In the win, Bruget gave up just four hits over seven shutout innings.
“Jacob threw well, got ahead, hit spots and did a good job of keeping them off balance,” said Lynx head coach Grant Hieb. “He’s starting to see the ball well now.”
Brandon Valley’s lone run of the game came in the first inning on an error.
For Washington, Justin Miller had two hits, Jon Hander and Ethan Lynn each doubled and Tanner Chambers struck out nine.

One run separated the two teams at the conclusion of Monday’s nightcap, but this time, it would be the Warriors who would collect the 11-10 victory.
In the loss, the Lynx failed to take advantage of Jacob Bruget’s effort at the plate. The Lynx senior rocked Washington with two home runs. Bruget went 2-for-4 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. He homered in the fifth and seventh innings.
“Bruget’s two homers were huge,” Hieb said.
Alec Brink recorded the win for the Warriors. He allowed four runs over one inning, struck out one, walked two and gave up three hits.
The Warriors grabbed the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a single by Brandon Ruud to score Justin Miller. The lead stayed with Washington after the seventh, when it scored six runs on two doubles and a two-run single by Ethan Lynn.
In addition to a pair of homers by Bruget, Jacob Mulder and Jacob Adams each had a double and RBI, and Jared Mulder singled twice.
