Jacob Adams both hit and pitched well for Valley Springs Legion, but it wasn’t enough as Post 131 fell to Renner Post 307 6-2 at Valley Springs on Wednesday.
Adams went a perfect 2-for-2 at the dish. He singled in the first inning and tripled in the fifth.
Renner Post 307 couldn’t get anything going as long as Adams was on the mound. He gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his two innings of work.
Matt Koch got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over seven innings, striking out three, walking two and surrendering seven hits.
Renner Post 307 stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fourth, scoring three runs on a three-run home run by Tanner Chambers.
Two runs in the bottom of the fifth helped Valley Springs close the deficit to 6-2. An RBI single by Jared Mulder and an RBI triple by Adams triggered Post 131’s comeback. But, Koch got Jacob Bruget to fly out to end the inning.
