S.D. unemployment rate drops to 4 percent in May

Preliminary estimates show a slight drop in South Dakota’s unemployment rate for May: 4 percent compared with 4.1 percent in April.
South Dakota has the third-lowest unemployment rate in the country, behind Nebraska and North Dakota, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The state’s level of unemployed people dropped by 400, and the level of employed people increased by 1,500.
South Dakota’s unemployment rate in May 2012 was 4.4 percent.
