Brockmueller earns Academic All-America Honors
Sioux Falls’ redshirt junior Billy Brockmueller was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® NCAA Division II Track/Cross Country Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Brockmueller was one of just two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference student-athletes to earn this honor.
An applied math and computer science double major, Brockmueller has excelled both on the track and in the classroom, where he has maintained a 4.00 GPA.
During the fall, Brockmueller earned an individual invitation to the NCAA Cross Country Championships where he was awarded the 2012 Elite 89 Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA championships. A first team All-NSIC runner, he was also named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic and All-Central Region teams for cross-country.
Brockmueller also had an exceptional showing in both indoor and outdoor track, where he achieved all-conference honors in the 3,000m, 5,000m (indoor and outdoor) and 10,000m races. A product of Brandon, Brockmueller set four USF records in 2012-13, including the DMR, mile, 5,000m and 10,000m runs. He was also a provisional qualifier for the indoor track and field championships.
Earlier this month, Brockmueller also earned a spot on the District 7 Academic All-District team for track/cross-country.
