SDHSAA Board of Directors elected
The votes have been tabulated regarding the two runoff elections for open positions on the SDHSAA Board of Directors. All SDHSAA member schools were entitled to vote in this election. The Division II position was to be filled by an athletic/activities director from any SDHSAA member school with average daily membership (ADM) from 683.426 to 193.086. This includes schools from Yankton High School with an ADM of 683.426 to Crow Creek High School with an ADM of 193.086.
The Large School Group Board of Education position was to be filled by a member of the board of education from a member school with an average daily membership of 1,579.756 to 477.070. This included schools from Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School with an ADM of 1,579.756 to Harrisburg High School with an ADM of 477.070.
The Division II position will be filled by Dan Whalen, who is the activities director at Pierre T.F. Riggs High School. The term of this position is five years in length and is scheduled to end on June 30, 2018.
The Large School Group Board of Education position will be filled by Mike Miller, a member of the Aberdeen Central School District Board of Education. This position is also a five-year term scheduled to end on June 30, 2018.
Rumble on the Ranch
Rumble On The Ranch, a 6-mile military style obstacles event is planned for Sept. 7 at Joy Ranch, 11 miles north of Watertown. Early registration is $75 through the month of July and $85 after July 31.
Proceeds from the event will go the Special Olympics of South Dakota, Joy Ranch and the Watertown Community Recreation Center.

Four Brandon junior golfers place at tourney
Four Brandon junior golfers competed at the SDGA First Dakota National Bank Junior Tour
July 8 at Spring Creek Country Club. In the boys 11 and under division, Austin Swenson won top honors. He carded a 43. Taylor Fjerestad and Zane Swenson were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the boys 14-15-year-old division. Both carded an 86. In the boys 16-18 year-old division, Riley Duncanson shot a 76 to finish in seventh.
