The BV Slammers 10 and under fastpitch softball team won the South Dakota 10 and under East B Division state championship in Sioux Falls over the weekend of July 12-14.

In the tournament opener on Friday, the BV Slammers hammered a Madison team, Rage, 17-5. The Slammers then went on to hand Hartford Dynamite a 13-1 setback Saturday morning. That afternoon, the Brandon Valley girls plagued Fightin Fillies, a Sioux Falls team, with a 16-3 loss.

The three victories set the stage for a semifinal meeting with Fusion Crush from Sioux Falls on Sunday morning. Coming off a four-hour rain delay, BV Slammers beat Crush 5-2, advancing them to the championship.

The championship game turned out to be another meeting for the BV Slammers and Fusion Crush. In the first inning, the Slammers jumped to a 5-1 lead, which was highlighted by a homerun. With the lead in their hands, the Slammers never looked back and went on to win the 10U state title behind a 13-1 victory.
