Lorraine Dannenbring, 99
Funeral services for Lorraine Dannenbring, 99, of Sioux Falls, were held Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
Mrs. Dannenbring died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at Luther Manor in Sioux Falls.
Lorraine was born in Freeman, S.D., to John J. and Barbara Tschetter. She attended Freeman College and taught grade school in the Clayton area where she met and married Harley Dannenbring. She and her husband owned and operated Coast-to-Coast stores in Winner and Canton before moving to Sioux Falls in 1954 when she resumed teaching. Lorraine taught grade school in the Hartford and Hayward school districts and taught third grade at Brandon Valley until she retired in 1975.
Mrs. Dannenbring is survived by Jerolyn (Gary) Pearson, Logandale, Nev., Marlys (Derald) Wiehl, Sioux Falls, and Betty (Ron) Arp (Ron), Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren, Kevin Pearson, Kristen Pearson, Greg Pearson, Lisa Grevlos, Marc Wiehl, Jamie Arp, Jessica Arp; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Agnes Dannenbring, Yankton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Dannenbring; siblings, John L. Tschetter and June Ebbesen; and one great-great-grandson.

Ronald Jones, 66
Funeral services for Ronald Wayne Jones, 66, of Emery, were held Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bridgewater. Interment was in the Emery Community Cemetery.
Mr. Jones died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013.
Ronald Wayne was born April 10, 1947, to Vince and Hilda (Hoff) Jones at Aberdeen. He graduated from Harrisburg High School and then served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard in Alaska and the Kansas City area. On June 5, 1971, he married Sharon Dykshorn at the New Holland Christian Reformed Church. He was a resident of Sioux Falls where he was employed at the Mobil Service Station and Tri-State Warehouse. They moved to the Emery area in 1988, where he was employed at Dakota Casting and Twin City Fan until his retirement April 1, 2013. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and served on the church council.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; two daughters, Robin (Ron Hutchins) Pappas of Brandon, and Jodi (Mark Sneller) Wolfe of Sioux Center, Iowa; six grandchildren, Caden, Carson, Camryn, Skylar, Bethany and Ty; three sisters, Karen (Vincent) Brandts of Emery, Kathy Jones and Brenda Jones, both of Sioux Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Martha Dykshorn.
Hettinger-Bittner Funeral Chapel, Emery, was in charge of arrangements.
Palmer 'Bud' Karli, 95
Funeral services for Palmer ‘Bud’ Karli, 95, of Brandon, were held Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church, rural Valley Springs.
Mr. Karli died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at the Dougherty Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls.
Palmer was born July 26, 1918 on the family farm near Garretson to Adolph and Emily (Johnson) Karli. He graduated from Garretson High School. Bud married Wanda Scott Aug. 26, 1943 at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church. They farmed near Brandon and Corson for 10 years.
Bud managed the Corson Elevator for 13 years and then worked for Tri-State Insurance. He was an inspector and field engineer for the insurance company until he retired. During his retirement, Bud kept himself busy helping other farmers, working at the golf course and woodworking.
In 2006, he became a resident at Bethany Meadows in Brandon.
Mr. Karli was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He sang with the Karli Brother’s Quartet and later in the Beaver Valley Lutheran Church choir and the Norse Glee Club.
He is survived by his children, Wade (Barbara) Karli of Faribault, Minn., Lane (Ranae) Karli of Sioux Falls, and Kerry (Jeff) Fisher of Alliance, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Rebecca LeVake, Scott Karli, Jonathan Karli, Jennifer Karli-Layne, Craig Karli, Leah Karli and Jason Fisher; eight great-grandchildren, Kate Layne, Palmer, Hadassah, Bridger and Landon LeVake, Jamison Karli, Nevaeh Fisher and Kash Horton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda in 2008; three brothers and a sister, Melvin, Leonard, Francis and Mildred Bergin.

Julie Plummer, 53
A Celebration of Life for Julie Ellen Plummer, 53, of Brandon, was held Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Brandon Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls.
Julie Plummer died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Julie Ellen Swanson was born May 25, 1960, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Jack and Lois Swanson. She was raised in the Edina, Minn., area and graduated from Edina West High School. She attended and graduated from Augustana College in 1982 with a BA in Nursing. Julie was a R.N. with Sanford Hospital for over 30 years until her illness caused her to retire. During her nursing career she spent the first six and last five years in the NICU. Julie was a distinguished and honored nurse, but family was her first priority. Any activity or time spent with her family is what she cherished most.
Julie will be deeply missed by her husband, Chuck; daughter, Kelsey Brandon; sons, Benjamin (Laura) Plummer, Tea, and AJ (fiancee Ashley) Brandon; her parents, Jack and Joanna Swanson, Edina; brother, John Swanson, Eden Prairie, Minn.; sister, Kristin (Jon) Engman, Edina; parents-in-law, Wayne (Patricia) Plummer, Honey Creek, Iowa; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Dave) Andrews, Urbandale, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Julie was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Swanson; and her mother-in-law, Arlene Plummer.

Curtis Rist, 74
Funeral services for Curtis Rist, 74, of Centerville, will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville.
Mr. Rist died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2013 at Sanford Health Hospital in Sioux Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; sons, Todd Rist of Centerville and Terry (Laura) Rist of Sioux Falls; granddaughters, Shalee (Preston) Stevens of Centerville and Chelsey Rist of Sioux Falls; siblings, Glenda (James) Carlson of Centerville and Randal Rist of Brandon.

Philip Zimmerman, 86
Mass of Christian Burial for Philip Zimmerman, 86, of Sioux Falls, was held Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Zimmerman died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at Dougherty Hospice House.
Philip G. Zimmerman was born June 3, 1927 at Sioux Falls. He moved with his family to Wentworth, S.D. where he lived until he was 16 years old. He lived in Madison, S.D., for one year before moving to Sioux Falls, where he completed his senior year of high school at Cathedral High School.
In December 1944, he entered military service and served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Bremerton, Wash., and was honorably discharged in July1946. Upon his return, he worked for Kampeska Air Service.
On Dec. 28, 1948, he was united in marriage with Donna Gatchell at Sioux Falls. In 1950, Phil began his career with the Sioux Falls Fire Department. He served the department until retiring as a Fire Captain in 1977. Phil also was involved with owning and operating several other business ventures in Sioux Falls.
Mr. Zimmerman is survived by his children, Daniel (Peggy) Zimmerman of Sioux Falls, David (Della) Zimmerman of Brandon, Kathleen Zimmerman and Karen (Scott) Van Diepen, both of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Therese (Jim) Fejfar of St. Joseph, Mo., and Mary Ann (Duane) Mahlsteadt of Sumner, Wash., and James (Shelia) Zimmerman of Santa Barbara, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna on July 21, 1999; siblings, Robert and Rosemary; and one granddaughter, Catherine Caryl Zimmerman.

Eleanore Wierschke, 82
Funeral services for Eleanore Wierschke, 82, of Sioux Falls, begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at First Lutheran Church, also in Sioux Falls. Interment will be in the Roselund Cemetery, Badger, Minn.
Mrs. Wierschke died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 at her residence.
Eleanore A. Hansen was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She grew up in New York where she received her education. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where she attended Lutheran Bible Institute. On June 26, 1954, she was united in marriage with Russell Wierschke in Minneapolis. Throughout their life together, they served the ministry throughout Minnesota, North and South Dakotas. Her husband preceded her in death on June 18, 1991. Eleanore retired from the ministry two years ago.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail (Paul) Syverson of Baltic, along with their children, Angela (Isaac) Schmeling, Alison Syverson and Amanda Syverson; sons, Gary (Amy) Wierschke and their daughter Melissa, of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Greg Wierschke of Sioux Falls. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren; and a very special family friend, Mary Jo Whittle, Brandon.
In addition to her husband, Eleanore was predeceased by her parents; and one sister, Lillian Fjeldal.
