Greater Midwest Foodways Alliance Heirloom Recipe Contest seeks entries

Those who have recipes from before 1950 are encouraged to enter the SD State Fair’s Greater Midwest Foodways Alliance Heirloom Recipe Contest on Sunday, Sept. 1 in the Women’s Building Kitchen.
The Greater Midwest Foodways Alliance is dedicated to celebrating, exploring and preserving unique food traditions and their cultural contexts in the Midwest.
There is no fee to participate. While pre-registration is not required, participants are encouraged to pre-register by Wednesday, Aug. 28 for preparation and coordination purposes.
Contestants who register prior to Wednesday will receive one free SD State Fair gate admission valid for the competition day. Contestants registering after Wednesday will need to pay the gate admission.
FeedStuffs FoodLink is sponsoring the cash prizes for the event. First place will receive $150, second place $100 and third place $50.

The 2013 South Dakota State Fair will run from Thursday, Aug. 29, through Monday, Sept. 2. Channel Seeds Preview night will be Wednesday, Aug. 28.
