Artists selected for First Lady’s Prairie Arts Showcase

First Lady Linda Daugaard will once again host the First Lady’s Prairie Arts Showcase, scheduled for Oct. 25-26 in Pierre during the annual Governor’s Invitational Pheasant Hunt. Thirty South Dakota artists were selected from a pool of artists that applied earlier this spring.
“We are fortunate to have so many talented artists in South Dakota,” the First Lady said. “This event is an excellent opportunity for them to display and sell their work. Our guests at the Governor’s Hunt as well as the members of the public look forward to it year after year. Congratulations to everyone who was chosen and thank you for sharing your talents with us.”
The 30 artists selected for the Arts Showcase are incredibly diverse. They include painters, photographers, potters, sculptors and jewelry-makers. The artists are: Larry Wold – Armour, Frank Denton – Beresford, JoAnne Bird – Brookings, David Huebner – Bushnell, Pat Brown – Fort Pierre, Deborah Casey – Hill City, Brett & Tammy Prang and Dawn Rasmussen – Kadoka, Earlene McNeil Larson – Mission City, Larry Beck, Annette Hinker, Ann Hirsch, Adam Oswald and Sharon Welch – Pierre, Kevin Aker, Deb Burckhard Messer, Jim Green and Jerry Hoenke – Rapid City, Bryan Bortnem – Rutland, Mark Anderson, Russ Duerksen, Jerry Fogg and Diane Mesmer – Sioux Falls, Kathy Sigle and Marion Toillion – Spearfish, Cheryl Peterson Halsey – Springfield, James Schoon – Vivian, Marilyn Nipe and Joshua Spies – Watertown, Mark Levsen – Webster.
The First Lady’s Prairie Arts Showcase is open for public viewing on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
