Attendance was up 5.8 percent at this year’s Sioux Empire Fair, the fair association announced Tuesday.
New this year was free admission to grandstand shows with paid admission to the fairgrounds. Organizers also noted good weather for all but one day and a pro rodeo competition and Hunter Hayes concert that attracted big crowds.
“Having the right artists and acts for an incredible price with beautiful weather really set up the fair for success,” association president and CEO Scott Wick said in a news release.
In its 74th year, the 10-day event drew a total of 307,400 visitors, he said.
