A Brandon man has been indicted on charges of aggravated assault and child abuse in the attack on his 17-year-old former girlfriend at a Subway restaurant in eastern Sioux Falls.
Derrick Allen Reiter, 20, is facing four counts of simple assault and one count of disorderly conduct for the Oct. 6 incident, which was caught by the security cameras of the restaurant at 1025 S. Highline Ave.
Reiter arrived at the restaurant at 6:30 p.m. while the victim was working and ordered a sandwich, according to a Sioux Falls Police Department detective. A few minutes later, as she spoke to him at a table, he grabbed her around the throat, pushed her outside, struggled with her then pulled her back in.
The detective saw the victim two hours after the assault, court records show, and she had red marks around her neck and a cut lip, the affidavit says.
Reiter is in the Minnehaha County Jail on $7,500 bond.
