FCA Hockey in Sioux Falls for 30-day stay
November 08. 2013 9:43AM
FCA Hockey staff will be spending 30 days in South Dakota hosting hockey clinics as part of a 50 State Tour. The 50 State Tour will take place over five years and South Dakota is the 23rd state on their tour. Their goal in each state will be to establish the four ministries of FCA (Coaches, Camps, Campus and Community) in each local community as they work with coaches, athletes and volunteers to set a strong foundation that will continue building the hockey ministry after they move on to the next state.
Leading the group is FCA Hockey Director Rick Randazzo, a former college player and coach, who is often joined by professional and college players. Randazzo finished a successful hockey career at West Point before serving his country in the United States Army. After six years of service, he spent eight years as the head hockey coach at the United States Naval Academy, where he remains the all-time winningest coach in the programís history.
In partnership with the Sioux Falls Stampede, FCA Hockey will host Skills Clinics from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 and 16 at the Sioux Falls Arena. Skills clinics will focus on improving fundamental skills like skating, passing, shooting and stick handling. On-ice sessions will focus on skill development and are for players of all ability levels. Along with strong on ice instruction, Randazzo and his staff will be leading off ice devotions on how to follow Jesus in the hockey world. Each player will also be provided with an FCA Hockey New Testament Bible and FCA Hockey jersey.
FCA is the largest Christian sports ministry in the world and focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ. For over 55 years, FCA has sought to impact the world through the influence of athletes and coaches.
