A total of 73 Brandon Valley High School students and chaperones packaged and boxed over two tons of food for the Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) organization in Eagan, Minn., on Saturday, Jan. 4.
Kjerstin Williams, a BVHS junior, led the record setting student-organized and -sponsored event. In addition to packaging enough food for 34,444 meals – enough for 94 children for an entire year – the students also donated $1,000 to the FMSC organization, which will provide an additional 4,545 meals.
The meals cost 22 cents each and consist of rice, soy, nuts and a vitamin mix. One package can provide six meals to a family.
The food packaged was sent to Ecuador.
