Brandon Valley came home from Tuesday’s Brookings triangular with an Eastern South Dakota Conference victory and a loss. The Lynx handed league newcomer Harrisburg a 54-10 setback, while the host Bobcats came out on top to garner a 49-29 victory.

“It was an overall very productive night for the Lynx,” said head coach Kraig Presler.
Five Brandon Valley wrestlers won both of their matches: Conner Rowbotham (126 pounds), Adam Presler (138), Wyatt Winter (160), Andrew Sorensen (195) and Erik Ode (285).

Rowbotham and Presler both recorded their victories by a pin and a decision. Winter, Sorensen and Ode all got wins by forfeit and a pin.

Sorensen big win on the Brookings mat came against Harrisburg’s Matt Schirado. The Lynx sophomore went all three periods to post a 9-5 win by decision.

After a long layoff due to a shoulder injury, freshman Jackson Pletten returned to the Lynx lineup. “He certainly provides a spark at the 132 slot,” Presler said.

The Lynx underclassman pinned Harrisburg’s Chayden Carpenter in 2:35, and shouldered Brookings’ Tate Coon in 2:10.

Coach Presler recognized Rowbotham’s effort in his 13-10 win by decision against Jacob Schoon, a very talented young wrestler for the Bobcats.

And Adam Presler continued his winning season by defeating another highly ranked opponent, Peter Hansen of Brookings. Presler bested the Bobcat grappler by a 5-2 decision.

While Ode posted a pair of wins, the Lynx senior heavyweight, along with Dawson Kremlacek, are out with injuries. Coach Presler said the team is “progressing the best we can with our able bodies.”

The Lynx wrestle at the Sioux Falls Pentagon Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7-8, and are then on break until Feb. 11, when they travel to Mitchell for a triangular against the host Kernels and Watertown Arrows beginning at 5 p.m.
