Farmer's Market Saturday in Brandon
August 15. 2014 9:14AM
An outdoor farmer’s market is being piloted in Brandon, and local businessman Doug Metcalf is spearheading the endeavor.
“I know nothing about it other than there’s not one in town,” Metcalf said.
The first farmer’s market will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, in the Cedar Place (west building) parking lot, 1320 E. Cedar St. Metcalf said the Aug. 16 farmer’s market will be free for all vendors who set up that day. He said a vendor fee would be applied in the following weeks.
Only handmade items made by the vendor selling them or homegrown produce grown by the person selling them may be sold, Metcalf said.
“No commercial items or products that would not normally fall under the general understanding of the farmer’s market concept” may be sold, Metcalf said.
Vendors will need to provide their own tables and/or tents.
