Nina B. Christenson, 85
Funeral services for Nina Beatrice Christenson, 96, of Renner, were held Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at Renner Lutheran Church, Renner. Burial was in the Pioneer Cemetery, rural Baltic.
Mrs. Christenson died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls where she had been a resident for four and a half years.
Nina was born Dec. 3, 1917 to Henry and Winnie (Krull) Jurgens at Chancellor, S.D. She attended grade and high school in Chancellor. On Sept. 28, 1940, she married Bill Christenson at First Lutheran in Sioux Falls. They made their home in Renner all their married life. Bill passed away on Sept. 9, 1985.
Nina was a stay at home mother, sewing for everyone on her trusty Singer treadle machine. She made countless wedding and bridesmaids dresses and was known as the “sewing lady of Renner.”
She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Wade) Peterson, Renner; son, Mark Christenson, Sioux Falls; daughter-in-law, Sue Christenson, Cody, Wyo.; grandchildren, Bill (Sherry) Peterson, Julie (Chad) Erickson, Jay (Carmela) Peterson, Lance (Lori) Christenson, and Leah Christenson; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Luverne Jurgens, Parker; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Alfred Christenson; four brothers, Harry, Willie, Bert, and Lawrence; and two sisters, Mayona Anderson, and Viola Borgen.

David W. Wallin, 53
Memorial services for David W. Wallin, 53, of Sioux Falls, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 at Central Baptist Church, Oakwood Chapel, 3102 W. Ralph Rogers Road, Sioux Falls.
Mr. Wallin died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Hospital.
David Wayne Wallin was born to Daryl W. and Helen L. (Larson) Wallin in Sioux Falls, on Feb. 21, 1961. He attended Washington High School and entered the U.S. Army in 1979, serving in Washington, Colorado and Georgia. He was honorably discharged in 1982. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, he worked as a shoe cobbler at John’s Shoe Repair in Sioux Falls. Dave became involved in the commercial cleaning business. In early June, Dave was diagnosed with cancer.
He is survived by his partner, Bonnie Brown, Sioux Falls; sons, Brandon and Jordan Wallin, Sioux Falls; sisters, Darilyn (Jon) Swanson, Sioux Falls, Carleen (Jim) Schmaus (Jim), Hoffman Estates, Ill., and Cindy (Tom) Burkle (Tom), Brandon; nieces Paula Burley, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Michelle Stowell, Eau Claire, Wis.; nephews Dustin Schmaus, Jesse Schmaus and Andrew Jensen, all of Hoffman Estates; ex-wife Monica Kjergaard and her family, Sioux Falls; and many other relatives and friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his son, Keith; his parents; and a brother, Keith, in infancy.
