Brandon Valley rebounded from a 1-0 deficit in their 2014 boy’s soccer season opener last Tuesday, but fell short in the 2-1 loss to ESD rival, the Brookings Bobcats.
“Everything’s always new with our first game,” said Lynx head coach Chris Limmer. “But I did see some positive things. Our younger guys stepped in and we can build from there.”
Trailing 1-0 at the half to the visiting Bobcats, Brandon Valley got on the board in the second half on a corner kick from Chandler McGrath to Brock Hanson, who scored the goal on a header into to the net.
The Bobcats responded, however, with the game-winning goal.
“Even though we have a quite a few seniors (10 in all),” Limmer said, “with the varsity experience we have, we’ll be relying on some of the younger guys to come in and step up as we make changes in some of our formations.”
After hosting Sioux Falls Lincoln on Aug. 26, the Lynx travel to Pierre this Friday and return to their home field on Tuesday, Sept. 2 for a 6 p.m. game with Sioux Falls Washington at the McHardy Park Soccer Complex.
